Welcome to D4
"The sole purpose of D4 Dog Training & Behaviour is to provide effective, long term training & behavioural solutions to both animal and owner"

My name is Sophie Peacock, I've lived with animals all my life, but have been working with them since 1997; my first job was in a dog and cat rescue kennels close to where I lived.  During my career I worked my way up the ladder to become a kennel manager, looking after 120 rescue, boarding & quarantine dogs & 40 rescue, boarding & quarantine cats and a range of rare breed farm animals including pigs, goats, sheep, ducks and chickens.  One similarity that I had through my career working with rescue dogs were the problems these dogs carried with them including anxiety, fear, aggression, excessive barking and even obsessive-compulsive behaviour.  All of these problems I did not know how to treat, asking a behaviourist to come in and help would have been very expensive and many caring owners took these dogs on knowing the problems they came with and getting outside help once they were settled into their new homes, some unfortunately coming back because the reality of dealing with a dog with behavioural problems was too much to handle.

In 2003 I decided dog behaviour was a good direction to head in to, as I felt it meant alot to me to learn how and why dogs behave the way they do and how to solve the many complex behaviours these dogs face during their lifetimes.  After taking a few short courses in training, behaviour, grooming and dog handling I went on to further education.  In May 2005 I completed my qualifications in Intermediate Canine Psychology, which I passed with Distinction and an Advanced Instructors Theory certificate, which I passed with a Merit.  Shotly after, I started D4 Dog Training & Behaviour on a part-time basis, working evenings and weekends around my full-time job.  I have previously worked in Coventry City Council's Animal Welfare Department but I am now the full-time Animal Welfare Officer for Stratford District Council.  Through my job as an A.W.O I also help out people who have problems with their barking dogs.

D4 Dog Training & Behaviours website became active in 2006.  There have been extra pages added to the website to include
                            * The Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation Society
                            * Animal Welfare Information
                            * Local news and events
                            * Charity information

I like to think D4 can look forward to a creative future and branch into new directions
